| Purpose
Online Educational Activites can provide an exciting,
inexpensive, and challenging extension to classroom learning situations.
Kids can work on the same activities at school and home without
needing to buy software or matching platforms. They may also access
from public libraries. For elementary aged students, these activites
can develop mousing and web browsing skills. Many activities provide
an opportunity to review and practice specific math and language
arts skills or to challenge the thinker with higher-level problems.
At school, you may only go to these links.
These pages are made to use for lessons and free
time on the computers. You are welcome to go to the sites that are
linked on the pages. You may not go to other Websites without permission.
For example, don't click on Games when you are on a page with an
activity. The grade levels pages can be crossed over. There are
great links for first grade and even second grade on the P- K page.
Third graders will find wonderful activities on the 1-2 page and
the 3-4-5.
If you accidentally end up on another page, please
let an adult know so we can help you get back to an approved site.
The links are organized by content area and in math also by standards.
3-4-5 has undergone some revision. I now have Social Studies links
organized by grade level and Science links by topics. Look for the
anchor links. Now anchor links are in grey boxes. Those will help
in finding what you need. My organization method is so students,
teachers, and parents know the skills that are being worked on.
My purpose in linking individual activites is to help select the
appropriate activity for a needed skill and to help with maximum
time spent on the activity.
Most links will open to a new window. When you are
finished with that activity just close the window. There are a few
links that may have pop up ads. Please, just close the window of
the ads. Be sure to only click inside the activity and not on the
surrounding objects. Many do have ads and can also navigate you
quickly away from the site. Watch the How
to Navigate Web Pages Quicktime Movie. Dial
up version here. Click on the screen to go to the next slide.
Some links open to a choice page. For example, some
stories pages will offer several stories to read or hear. Click
on the story that you want to work on then click on the Back Button
to return to the choice screen.(Look at the Button Bar. If the Back
Button or arrow is available, you should click on it to return to
the choice screen.) Close the window to return to the Centennial Kids'
Page for other activities.
How
To Manage Windows Quicktime Movie Here is a movie that can help
you get around the activities easily. Dial
up here. Click on the screen to go to the next slide.
Always check with an adult before doing any printing.
A few of the pages offer printable activities along with the online
ones. Usually, there will not be any printing so be sure to ask
first so you do not waste your time. |
